Lights, Camera, Action! The Making of Superyacht Foodie Adventures TV Series

Wow, the past couple of years have flown by! It feels like just yesterday we were in the early stages of planning, and now I’m thrilled to share some incredible news with you all. We’ve been busy (as always) behind the scenes at Superyacht Foodie and, alongside RedPepper TV, we’re ready to unveil our latest project—Into the Light, a documentary TV series that’s set to be a real game-changer.

Into the Light is a six-episode journey that takes viewers from the source of rare, sustainable foods in remote locations straight to the opulent decks of superyachts, with Michelin-starred Chef and friend of Superyacht Foodie, Kim Mikkola leading the way. It’s a project that’s close to my heart because it also delves into Kim’s personal story—how he found himself at a crossroads in life and embarked on an incredible journey to reignite his passion for cooking.

How Did This All Begin?

Let me take you back a bit. Around two and a half years ago, Superyacht Foodie was invited by the Finnish Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, to host a Finnish food fair in Cape Town. And, as it often happens, what started as a simple lunch with a local contact turned into something much bigger. He was fascinated by the Superyacht Foodie concept, and that casual meeting has now blossomed into a full-blown documentary series that I’m so excited to share with you all.

What’s Into the Light All About?

So, what can you expect from Into the Light? The first season will take you on an extraordinary journey from Finnish Lapland’s reindeer farms to small Italian villages and even to South African farms. These are the places where Kim will source the most incredible ingredients that will later be brought on board superyachts anchored in exotic locations. But the adventure doesn’t end there—Kim will collaborate with yacht chefs to create mouthwatering dishes, sourcing the perfect side ingredients from local markets and farms.

One of the goals of this series is to give the superyacht industry the recognition it deserves—showing the real people behind the luxury, without all the drama. We’ll also be exploring the unique challenges and pressures faced by Michelin-starred chefs compared to yacht chefs, and I think you’ll find those insights fascinating.

Where We’re At Now

I’m beyond excited to announce that the pilot episode of Into the Light is complete, and the response has been incredible. There’s already significant interest from global streaming services and linear TV networks, so you can expect to see it on your screens soon.

For me, this project is more than just a series—it’s a chance to work with industry professionals and showcase the positive, realistic side of our superyacht world. I’m really looking forward to collaborating with as many of you as possible to make this series something truly special.

Sustainability Matters

As we embark on this global journey, we’re also committed to making a positive impact on the environment. We understand that our travels will have a carbon footprint, and we’re taking responsibility for that. We plan to work with a carbon offset program to credit the emissions generated by our travels. But we’d love to hear from you—do you have any recommendations for reliable carbon offset organizations or initiatives we should consider partnering with? Your insights could help us make the best choice!
